Front Panel (with opening)
Row 1: Ch 8, starting from 2nd ch: inc, 5 sc, inc (9)
Row 2: Inc, 7 sc, inc (11)
Rows 3-4: 11 sc
Row 5: Inc, 9 sc, inc (13)
Row 6: 13 sc
Row 7: Inc, 11 sc, inc (15)
Row 8: 15 sc
Rows 9-11: 4 sc only (do not cut yarn); rejoin yarn on the other side and work two rows of 4 sc there, cut — this creates the slit opening
Row 11 (cont.): continuing with the live yarn, ch 7 across the gap, 4 sc (bridges the opening)
Row 12: 15 sc
Row 13: Dec, 11 sc, dec (13)
Row 14: Dec, 9 sc, dec (11)
Edging: sc all the way around the panel; when you reach the middle 7 sts of Row 1 at the top of the head, work: sc, 2 tr, tr-inc, 2 tr, sc (this shapes the character's head bump).

Back Panel: same chart, but Rows 9-11 are plain 15 sc (no slit).
Make both panels, then sl st them together around the edge, leaving the marked opening. Optionally add a snap button.

Ears, 4 sts apart, in back loops: sl st, (sc, dc), dc-inc, (dc, sc), sl st
Yellow inner ear (2 strands, 1.4mm hook): (sc, dc), dc-inc, (dc, sc)
Nose: 6 sc in MR. Paws: ch 4, from 3rd ch: dc, sc.

Clownfish (colors 05, 72, 50)
Sew the two panels first, then crochet the fins onto the edges.
Side fins: (ch 1, dc), dc-inc, (dc, ch 1, sl st)
Top fin: (ch 1, dc), (dc, sc), dc-inc, (dc, ch 1, sl st)
Eyes: 6 sc in MR. Mouth: ch 18, sl st into a ring, 18 sl st. Paws: ch 4, from 3rd ch: dc, sc.

Ears 6 sts apart. Left ear: sl st, sc, dc, 2 hdc, (2 hdc, ch 2, sl st); work the right ear mirrored.
