Frequently asked questions
Why do I make two identical rice-ball pieces?
The two oval pieces are placed together and joined with back-loop-only single crochet through both layers, which gives the rice ball its flat, pinched sushi shape rather than a fully round ball.
When do I stuff the rice ball?
Stuff with fiberfill after working rounds R4-R7, then sew the remaining opening closed so the piece holds its plump shape.
How is the shrimp attached?
The shrimp is worked separately in white then orange, folded flat and closed, then placed on top of the rice ball and sewn in place during assembly.
