Notes

X = sc, V = inc, A = dec, F = hdc, T = dc, W = small cluster for the leaf. Stuff before closing (Rnd 16). 加棉 = add stuffing, 塞棉 = stuff. (This is the '@短短手作' apple-core version.)

Black yarn for the stem, green for the leaf, with embroidered seeds. (This is the '@佛系钩织' single-strand small-apple version.)

Frequently asked questions

What hook size should I use for the apple coaster?

The coaster version is worked with a 4.0 mm hook in a double strand of yarn. The other two versions (apple-core and small apple) don't specify a hook, so match your hook to your yarn so the stuffed shapes stay firm with no gaps.

When do I change colors on the coaster body?

Work Rnds 1-5 in cream/skin color, then switch to red at Rnd 6 and continue through Rnd 14. Rnd 6 is worked in back loops only (BLO) to create a clean ridge at the color change.

When do I stuff and attach the apple core?

On the coaster, sew the brown apple core on after completing Rnd 10. On the apple-core version, add fiberfill at Rnd 16 before closing, then pull the top and bottom centers together for the dimpled apple shape.

What do the chart symbols mean?

These patterns use symbol notation: X/x = sc, F = hdc, T = dc, V = inc, A = dec, and W = a small cluster/picot worked for the leaf vein. 外半针 means front loop only (FLO) and 内半针 means back loop only (BLO).
