Frequently asked questions

How are the body markings done?

They are not crocheted in. You embroider the red pattern over the finished body and glue the embroidery down as you go so the lines keep the shape you want.

How do the fins keep their shape?

Each fin is stuffed lightly and gets a shaping strip or floral wire inserted before it is sewn on. The tail has wire pushed in between body rows 26-27 and 28-29.

How is the tail fin constructed?

It splits into a left and a right half worked separately from round 14, then the two halves are joined stitch by stitch with yellow decreases - starting at stitch 4 on the right half and stitch 7 on the left.

What is the invisible colour change the chart keeps mentioning?

It is the planned or pre-change method: you complete the last stitch of a round with the new colour so the join does not show as a step. The chart asks for it on every colour change.
