Tucked-Paws Calico Cat Brooch — Symbol Chart (Base)

A flat, side-lying cat worked as one piece from a foundation chain, read directly from the hand-drawn chart:

Construction: the row of chain ovals across the middle is the foundation chain. Work sc (X) around both sides of it in an oval, shaping with inc (V) at the head and rump ends and dec (A / dotted marks) where the outline curves in — exactly as each symbol is placed in the chart.
Color blocks: the piece is mostly yellow (cream body); the orange X-blocks on the upper back and the dark grey X-blocks by the shoulder/face are the calico patches — change color for those stitches as charted (intarsia, carry the unused color).
Tail: the dark grey chain at lower left — a small ring start, then the chained/sc tail curling out (2 sc, inc symbols along it), tipped with the grey fan (3-4 hdc cluster) at the end.
Ears: the two small triangles at the top right — short rows of sc/hdc (orange one with an hdc fan and ch at the tip, grey-dotted one beside it); sl st (dots) anchor the ear tips.
Cheek/haunch fans: the large yellow V and radiating stitches on the right form the increased fan for the cat's rear haunch where the paws tuck under.

Work the matching face details from the companion chart, then back the piece for a brooch.

Tucked-Paws Calico Cat Brooch — Face Placement Chart

The same side-lying calico cat chart with the finished face marked in place. Crochet the base piece first, exactly as in the companion chart: sc (X) worked around both sides of the central foundation chain, with inc (V) and dec shaping as charted, the calico color blocks in orange and grey, the chained sl-st tail and the sc/hdc triangle ears.

Then place the features:
Eyes: two black dots embroidered close together on the face block, just right of the grey patch.
Blush: a small pink oval under each eye.
Whiskers: three fine black strands fanning out on each side of the muzzle.
Mouth: a small curved line centered below the eyes.
Finish by backing the piece with felt and a brooch pin.
