Badminton Shuttlecock Charm — Cork Base & Feather Mesh Cork Base (head) Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12) Rnd 3: *Sc, inc*, repeat 6 times (18) Rnd 4: *2 sc, inc*, repeat 6 times (24) Rnds 5-7: Sc in each st around (24) Rnd 8: Change color, 24 sc, FO (24) Feather Section First repeat Rnds 1-4 above (another small cup, 24 sts). Rnd 5: Change to white and work in BLO, then follow the chart rows below. FO and sew the two cups together. Feather mesh (from the symbol chart, worked flat around the rim; repeat per group): Chart Row 1 (black): *1 tr, ch 1, skip 1 st*, repeat around; turn with ch 4. Chart Row 2 (blue): *2 tr in the next tr (paired V), ch 1*, repeat; turn with ch 4. Chart Row 3 (green): *tr in first tr of the pair, 1 dc worked horizontally around the bar between the pair (like a front-post dc — see note), tr in second tr of the pair*, repeat. Chart Row 4 (orange): *(tr, horizontal post dc, tr) over the group, ch 1*, repeat; turn with ch 3. Chart Row 5 (top, black): *ch 1, dc2tog over the group, ch 1, sl st between groups*, repeat around — this closes each feather tip.
Notes
Key note from the chart: the middle 'long stitch' of each feather group is worked sideways through/around the stitch, similar to a front-post dc. The mesh forms the open feather skirt; sew the white mesh cup to the colored cork cup.
