Blue-and-White Flower Coaster — Octagonal Symbol Chart

Symbol key: sl st, single crochet (sc), chain (ch), double crochet (dc), dc2tog (2 dc together), dc5tog (5 dc together), plus start-here and cut-yarn markers.

Worked in rounds from a central magic ring outward into an octagonal flower motif: a bobble/petal center, expanding rounds of dc groups and dc-clusters separated by chain spaces, and a final scalloped/picot sc border. Follow the charted wedge repeat around all eight sides.
The two colors (deep blue and white) alternate to give the blue-and-white porcelain look.

Notes

High-resolution symbol chart (by 'Daisy') for the octagonal blue-and-white flower coaster. Companion to the step-photo tutorial; uses dc clusters (dc2tog/dc5tog) to shape the petals.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the porcelain look?

Alternate the deep blue and white yarns as you change rounds so the petals and border read like blue-and-white china.

Should I block it?

Yes — wet-blocking opens up the chain loops and sets the octagonal shape and picot edge flat.
