Blue & Orange Mandala Coaster — Steps 7 to 10 Rnd 7: Working on the sc that sits above the middle dc of each 3-dc group from Rnd 5: (dc, ch 3, then an unfinished dc in the same st, skip 2, join it with the first dc of the next motif to make a dc dec, ch 3, unfinished dc in the same st...) and continue in that pattern around Rnd 8: In each ch-3 space, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) Rnd 9: In each ch-2 space, work (5 dc, ch 1) Rnd 10: Between each pair of Rnd 8 motifs, working over and enclosing Rnd 9, work (sc, ch 5) Rnd 10 in navy makes the scalloped outer edge.

Frequently asked questions
Which round is the tricky one?
Round 7. You work above the middle double crochet of each 3-dc group and join unfinished double crochets across neighbouring motifs to make the openwork lattice - the step photo for R7 is worth studying before you start.
Why does the last round look like it floats?
Round 10 is worked between the round 8 motifs and over the top of round 9, so the navy scallops sit in front of the previous round instead of on top of it.
Do I need all six colours?
No - the shape works in any colour order. The six-colour scheme just makes each round read separately, which is why the chart is coloured round by round.
