Frequently asked questions
Why is the body worked from the feet?
The legs are picked up directly off the finished feet, then joined at the centre so the body continues upward as one piece. It avoids sewing the legs on and keeps the penguin standing straight.
How does the black cap fit over the beak?
After round 19 you fold the cap, mark the centre front and work a V-shaped notch in short rows, then single crochet once around the whole outer edge before sewing it to the white head.
What makes the cardigan ribbing?
Rows 2 and 11 alternate front-post and back-post double crochet, which pulls the fabric into ribbing at the hem and yoke. The hat uses back-loop-only half doubles worked sideways for the same effect.
Can I resize the clothes?
Yes - the chart says to try the hat and cardigan on your own doll and adjust the row count, since gauge in fluffy or thicker yarn varies a lot.
