Spy Pigeon Amigurumi — Materials, Wings, Tail, Claws & Beak

MATERIALS
Colours: grey (body), blue (hood), white (eyes), yellow or red (beak and claws)
Hook: 4.0mm
Safety eyes: 4
Stuffing and a sewing needle
Finished height in the photos: about 7.6cm
The body and hood are worked in the round; the wings, tail and claws are worked flat.

WING (make 2) / TAIL (make 1) — grey
Leaving a long starting tail, work into a ring: sc, dc, hdc, ch 1, sl st, ch 2, hdc, ch 1, sl st, ch 2, hdc, dc, sc (7 sts, not counting the chains and slip stitches).
Fasten off and pull the tail tight; sew to the body and the rump later.

CLAW (make 2) — yellow
Ch 3.
Row 1: Skip the first 2 chs, pull the tail tight to form a point, sl st into the 3rd ch
Row 2: Ch 2, pull the tail tight to form a point, sl st into the Row 1 slip stitch
Row 3: Repeat Row 2
Ch 1, fasten off and draw the tail out. Sew to the body later.

BEAK (make 1) — yellow or red
Ch 3, work 1 hdc starting in the 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, fasten off.

Spy Pigeon Amigurumi — Blue Hood & Grey Bird Body

BLUE HOOD (the trickiest part) - worked in a continuous spiral, no joining sl st
Rnd 5 uses two special stitches to crochet the eyes and beak straight into the fabric:
Mbo (mini bobble): with white yarn, work 3 hdc into one stitch. You now have 1 blue loop and 3 white loops on the hook. Lay the white yarn over the blue, then use the blue yarn to draw through all 4 loops at once.
Sbo (pointed bobble): with yellow yarn, work 2 hdc into one stitch. On the loop of the second hdc, ch 2, insert the hook into the back bump of the 2nd ch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You now have 2 yellow loops and 1 blue loop on the hook. Complete the third hdc of the bobble in the original stitch, lay the yellow over the blue, then use the blue yarn to draw through all 4 loops at once.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a ring (6) - the starting tail can be used as the little tuft on top of the head
Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12)
Rnd 3: *3 sc, inc* x3 (15)
Rnd 4: 15 sc (15) - do not finish the last sc; leave 2 loops on the hook, lay the white yarn over the blue and complete the st with blue to anchor the white yarn
Rnd 5: mbo (white), sc (blue), sbo (yellow), sc (blue), mbo (white), 10 sc (blue) - then cut the white and yellow yarns
Rnds 6-10: 15 sc (15)
Rnd 11: In FLO only, *ch 1, sl st* x15, then sl st and fasten off.
Attach the safety eyes. With white yarn, sew a small raised bump just above the beak.

Rnds 3-4: 12 sc (12)
Rnd 5: *3 sc, inc* x3 (15)

Rnd 8: 21 sc (21)
Rnd 9: 11 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec (18)
Rnd 10: *sc, dec* x6 (12)
Rnd 11: 6 dec (6)
Stuff before closing - you can also add a magnet so the bird sticks to any metal surface. Sew all the parts together to finish.
