Frequently asked questions
How do I keep the globe round instead of oval?
For Rnds 7-19, do not carry the yarn across the back. Cut and rejoin each color at every color change so the carried strands don't pull the sphere into an oval.
What does each color represent?
Green is land, blue is ocean, wheat is desert, and white is the ice caps, following the per-stitch color map for each round.
When do I stuff and close the globe?
Work through the decrease rounds, fasten off, stuff firmly with fiberfill, then sew the opening closed using the front loops only (FLO) for a clean finish.
What is the difference between the two versions in this pattern?
Both make the same Earth globe. The color-annotated version spells out the exact color for each stitch, while the table version shows the underlying increase/decrease structure (6 sts up to 48, then back down) alongside the colors.
