Lace Flower Headband — Motif & Joining Motif (single flower) Rnd 1: 12 sc in a ring (12) Rnd 2: Ch 6 to stand up, sl st into the next st, then continue: sl st into the next st, ch 6, sl st into the next st - repeat around to make 6 ch-6 loops Rnd 3: Into each large ch-6 loop from Rnd 2, work: sc, hdc, dc, dc, dc, ch 1, then in the same loop dc, dc, dc, hdc, sc - this makes one petal with a picot at its point. Repeat in every loop for 6 petals. Chain start and joining (from the printed chart) Begin with ch 5 at the very start of the band. Between flowers, chain 13 to space them along the band. Joining note (marked in red on the photo): join adjacent flowers to each other at the chain point of the two facing petals, crocheting them together there rather than sewing. A single motif on its own can be used as a button cover.

Frequently asked questions
How are the flowers connected?
They are crocheted together at the chain point of the two facing petals as you reach each new flower, so the band comes off the hook in one piece with no sewing.
How do I change the length?
The band is a chain-5 start with chain 13 between motifs. Add or remove whole flower repeats, or adjust the connecting chain, to fit your head or collar.
Can I make just one flower?
Yes. A single motif stretched over a button makes a lace button cover, which is what the maker did on a shirt placket.
