Openwork Diamond Tote — Oval Base, Body & Strap (worked as charted)

Yarn: combed knitting yarn (20-ply), ~420g. Hook: 3.0mm. Finished ~30cm tall x 42cm wide.

Oval Base (start ch 47), worked in dc with end increases each round:

Body: continue in dc rounds up from 160 sts (number of rows to taste - openwork/lattice pattern as charted).
Strap: work rows 1-26 of dc, shaping the width (rows numbered on the chart), narrowing toward the middle; make the other side to match and seam. After seaming, edge the strap with a round of sc, and optionally a round of reverse sc for decoration.
Symbols: oval = ch, filled oval = sl st, T with bar = dc, splayed T = dc-inc.
