Frequently asked questions
Is raffia yarn hard to work with?
It is stiffer than cotton and a little rough on the hands. Work slowly at even tension; the payoff is charms that hold their shape without stiffener.
How do the hat brims flare?
Both hats switch to front-loop-only rounds and increase sharply — hat 1 works an hdc increase into every stitch, hat 2 spreads increases over three rounds — which makes the brim ripple outward.
How are the basket handles made?
Basket 1 skips two stitches with a ch-5 arch on each side; basket 2 uses a separate ch-15 strap sewn to the rim.
