1/5Simple Coaster
Original design by @Scarlett🍓
A quick round coaster that grows from a magic ring through five rounds of dc clusters and chain spaces, finishing with a scalloped flower edge of 7-dc fan shells. It's a beginner-friendly project and a satisfying way to use up small amounts of yarn.

Frequently asked questions
Does the turning chain count as a stitch?
Yes. The ch-3 worked at the start of each round counts as 1 dc, so you join with a slip stitch to the top of that ch-3 to close each round.
Why does the pattern fasten off after every round?
Each round is fastened off and the yarn rejoined for the next, which keeps the rounds tidy and is useful if you want to change colors between rounds.
What creates the decorative edge?
The final round forms a scalloped flower border by working 7-dc fan shells into the ch-2 spaces, separated by single crochets between the dc groups of the previous round.
