Frequently asked questions

How is the hair attached to the head?

The hair is built from many individual chained strands of varying lengths. The bangs are worked first, then the back-of-head hair is made by chaining 48, wrapping it around the back of the head, and securing it. Each strand is worked back along its starting chain using sl st, sc, hdc, and dc to create natural taper.

Why do the strands use different stitch heights along their length?

Mixing sl st, sc, hdc, and dc within a single strand makes the hair curl and lie in a more lifelike way. Shorter stitches at the base keep the strand flat near the scalp while taller dc toward the tip add curve and volume.

Do I need to make both sides of the bangs separately?

No. After working Strands 1, 2, and 3, you repeat Strand 3, 2, 1 in reverse order to mirror the bangs on the other side so the front is symmetrical.
