Mob (Shigeo Kageyama) Wall Hanging — Filet Crochet Chart This is a filet crochet chart, 54 rows tall, worked flat in rows with lace thread and a 1.0mm hook. How to read the chart - A solid dark square is a filled block: dc in each of the next 2 sts (dc, dc worked over the block below). - An open light square is an open block: ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st. - Row numbers run up both edges. Read odd-numbered rows right to left and even-numbered rows left to right, turning at the end of each row. - Foundation: ch (3 × number of squares) + 4, then work the first dc into the 4th ch from the hook. Chart layout Rows 1-32: the long face, hand and shoulder outline. Rows 33-46: the speech panel with the lettering. Rows 24-27 and 47-54: mesh bands worked as *ch 5, skip 3 sts, sc*, repeated across, which give the open lace border at the top and bottom. Finishing: block the finished panel flat, thread it onto a wooden dowel through the top mesh row, and hang weighted beads from the bottom edge so it hangs straight.
Notes
Foundation chain is 169 ch (not counting the turning chain). Worked in lace thread on a 1.0mm hook; the piece is not blocked stiff, only pressed, so weights at the bottom keep it hanging flat.
