What does BLO mean in the Sunrise cake rounds?
BLO is 'back loop only.' Working those rounds through the back loop creates a crisp ridge that shapes the edge of the cake and helps the sides stand up straight.
How are the cream layers and swirls made?
The Mars cake uses popcorn/bobble stitches worked in rounds for the cream, while the Sunrise cake's cream is a long chain (ch 33 and a swirl repeat) shaped into a decorative piped swirl.
Can I make just one of the two cakes?
