Raffia Mushroom Charm — Cap Mushroom Cap (brown raffia with cream speckles) Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6) Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12) Rnd 3: *Sc, inc*, repeat 6 times (18) Rnd 4: Sc in each st around (18) Rnd 5: *Sc, inc, sc*, repeat 6 times (24) Rnd 6: Sc in each st around (24) Switch to the cream yarn at random stitches for the speckled shiitake look (or carry the cream yarn and work scattered contrast stitches).

Notes
Stem + gill flare for the raffia mushroom. 'FV' = 2 hdc in each stitch. Sew to the cap from the companion diagram; add a cord loop to hang.
Frequently asked questions
How is the mushroom gill flare made?
The stem tube increases to 12, then works 2 hdc into every stitch (24) — the sudden flare becomes the underside of the cap, which is sewn to the cap piece.
Is raffia hard to crochet?
Keep tension moderate and use a slightly larger hook than for cotton; raffia holds shape well, which is why the mushroom needs no stiffener.
