Notes

Weaving-crochet bag: 20 flat sc strips are woven together over an oval base. Yarn: raffia/Eco Andaria beige ~120g, 5/0 hook, poly core in the strips. Base worked as a 5-round oval to 120 sc.

Woven Raffia Handbag — Assembly

1. Base: hold the 2 base pieces together and sc around once = 120 sc, inserting the base board partway.
2. Join the 20 A-strips to the base rim with sl st (alternate joining ☆ into 5 sts of both base + strip, and ◆ = 1 sl st into base only), around = 120.
3. Weave: cross each pair of adjacent A-strips and pin (round 1). Then shift by one strip and cross the next pairs the opposite way (round 2). Repeat around.
4. Opening: Row 1 - *5 sc across one A-strip, ch 1*, repeat 20 times around to join the strip tops (pick up the ch as a bundle). Row 2 - 120 sc even, no inc/dec.
5. Remove pins/clips and sew on the two handles inside with matching yarn.
Symbols: oval = ch, X = sc.

Notes

Assembly of the woven bag: attach strips to base, weave adjacent strips over/under, then crochet the top opening and attach handles. Opening = 120 sts.
