Notes

2.0mm hook, single strand yarn, 3 gradient pink colors. Base = 64 sts. The diagonal stripe effect is created using FPdc (Front Post Double Crochet) worked in an offset pattern. FW/FV in the base refer to dc-inc at the corners to form the oval/rectangular base.

Frequently asked questions

What creates the diagonal stripe texture?

The diagonal effect comes from Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc) worked in an offset pattern over a 12-stitch repeat. Following the symbol chart so the posts shift each round is what produces the slanted ridges.

How is the base shaped?

You chain 34 and work double crochet down both sides of the chain with dc-increases at each corner (the FW/FV marks), forming an oval/rectangular base of 64 stitches that the body builds up from.

Can I change the bag's height?

Yes. After the base, you simply repeat the diagonal pattern rows until the pouch reaches your desired height before adding the scallop edging and button tab.
